LABRADOODLE SIZE GUIDE

Labradoodle Sizes

Labradoodles come in various sizes that have been generalized to fit into three main classes:

  1. Standard

  2. Medium

  3. Miniature

Shoulder height is the determining factor, but the weight helps us visualize the dog’s size better. A Standard Labradoodle is over 21” at the shoulder and weighs 42 lbs. or more. I do not have standards in my breeding program at Great Day Labradoodles. Medium Labradoodles are 17”-20” at the shoulder and weigh between 26-45 lbs. Miniature Labradoodles are 14”-16” at the shoulder and weigh between 18-28 lbs.

Medium and Miniature Labradoodles seem to be preferred.

The medium Labradoodle size can keep up with most activities, easily fit in the car, and snuggle on the sofa. The miniature Labradoodles are perfect for a little less active family or if the activities that allow your dog to keep up or possibly be carried, like paddle boarding. This is an excellent area to consider before selecting your new doodle. What are your goals, and what do you see yourself doing with your dog?

Three sizes of Poodle, Labrador Retriever, and Cocker can be found in my dogs' bloodlines.

It is not an exact science guesstimating Australian Labradoodle pups’ adult size yet but the further we get on generations, the more consistent it becomes. Because multiple breeds are incorporated into the Australian Labradoodle bloodlines, a pup ‘throwing back’ to a great ancestor is possible. I think the range in size from Miniature Poodle to Standard Poodle can sometimes be seen.
